Hello!  My name is Laura Carner and I am so excited to be a part of the Billie Stevenson family as the music teacher!  I will be starting my 11th year of teaching music and I love watching my students learn and grow together into amazing musicians.

I was born in Illinois, but moved away from the cold weather as soon as I could!  I recieved my Bachelor's degree in Music Education and Oboe Perfromance from Texas Tech Univeristy and worked on my Master's degree in Oboe Performance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  I am a fully certified Orff-Schulwerk teacher from Trinity Univetisty in San Antonio.  Orff-Shulwerk is an approach to teaching music where the students are actively invloved in their learning.  In my classroom you will see students exploring, singing, moving, acting, playing instruments and collaborating to make beautiful music.
