  • Celia Hays is a former teacher whose Rockwall County roots go back to the early days of pioneer settlement. Her grandparents donated a plot of their homestead, located north of the city of Rockwall, for the Liberty Grove School. Ms. Hays graduated from Rockwall High School in 1924 and began her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse in Rockwall County in 1926. She retired in 1974 after 42 years in the classroom.
