The year 2009-2010 allows the district to operate on parallel tracks to accomplish two major objectives. On the first track, the district is beginning the process of reflecting on the current Strategic Plan. We will review the destination determined in the 2001-2010 Plan and analyze our success in reaching our goals and objectives. On the second track, rather than re-creating a traditional Plan, we will develop a 5-year Strategic Thinking and Planning model titled New Visioning, which will allow all participants to imagine, design, and create the future for our district.
In order to begin the Strategic Thinking/Planning process, district administrators, teachers, auxiliary staff, business and community members, parents, and students have to start asking ourselves the following questions:
As a district:
- Where have we been?
- Where are we today?
- Where did we say we will be?
- What kind of school system do we want to be?
- What do we aspire to do?
- What learning enterprise will we imagine, design, and create to meet the needs of all our students?
Our collaborative effort with our community emphasizes that our schools belong to our citizens, and we are grateful for the time we spend together in the process of imagining, creating, and designing the best school around. Because of our community's commitment, the future of Rockwall ISD includes setting standards for other communities to model as we become a true Learning Organization.
