Shannon ES Student Developing Leadership Skills through Mentorship and Community Service

Lucas Barnes, a 6^th grader at Shannon Elementary, takes his dream to be a Marine seriously.  He is very involved in community service through Young Marines, and as a mentor, he uses these traits learned in his classroom with younger students at Shannon. 

He recently completed a research unit in his writing class on teen activism, focusing on the fact that many teen activists are usually involved in Community Service as well.

Lucas certainly has a bright future ahead of him!
