New York Times Bestselling Illustrator AG Ford Visits Jones Elementary

The Jones Elementary PTA recently sponsored a visit from AG Ford, a New York Times Bestselling Illustrator.  Mr. Ford spoke to all of the students during two fun-filled and informative sessions.

Ms. Loya, the library media specialist, prepared the students for the visit by giving them information about Ford’s life and work. Ms. Mosby, the art teacher, read Ford’s Cookiesaurus Rex to the students and then the students decorated dinosaur treats.

“It was a great experience and his message was very relevant to the kids at our school,” said Valerie Livingston, the music teacher. “He was engaging and really connected with the kids.”

During his visit, Mr. Ford spoke about how important persistence has been in his life. He told the students that to be truly great at something they needed to be willing to put in time and effort. He also spoke about how important art school was in his life and that scholarships to school can come from many different sources, not just from sports.

Mr. Ford also spoke about his artistic process and gave the students a demonstration. Many thanks to the Jones PTA for setting up the wonderful experience!
