Nebbie Williams ES Begins Pilot S.T.E.A.M. Program

Students Coding for steam tech petting zoo

Nebbie Williams began a pilot S.T.E.A.M. program for the 2017-2018 school year.  Science Technology Engineering Arts Mathematics, or S.T.E.A.M., is a sixth-grade class being taught by Mrs. Zurbach, the Library Media Specialist.

“I was honored when Principal Gielow asked me to help out with the S.T.E.A.M. class,” said Katherine Zurbach. “The students work on Passion Projects using science, math, and other key areas, as well as explore technology through lessons.”

During the recent Technology Petting Zoo, sixth graders coded video games, created homework apps, constructed electronic machines using circuit boards, built elaborate engineering structures and took virtual field trips.

Students were able to choose S.T.E.A.M. as one of their elective choices and they attend class three days a week.
