History of Cullins-Lake Pointe Elementary

  • The school’s name honors distinguished educator Doris Cullins, and identifies its location in the rapidly growing Lake Pointe area. After twenty years in the classroom, Mrs. Cullins became Rockwall’s first woman school administrator. She opened three schools, serving as the first principal of Rockwall Intermediate, Amanda Rochell Elementary, and Virginia Reinhardt Elementary Schools.

Built in 1987 and named after a lifelong educator from the Rockwall County area, Doris Cullins-Lake Pointe Elementary School has undergone three renovations to meet the needs of this unique Rowlett community. Building additions in 1991, 1996, and 2002 created additional necessary classroom, cafeteria, library, and gym space for students.

Cullins-Lake Pointe is a unique campus, being on the west side of Lake Ray Hubbard, and is the largest elementary in Rockwall ISD.
