What do I do if my child is having problems in school?
Great question! Parent involvement is the first step. Your school counselor can help direct your child to appropriate help. We care! In fact, at each campus, a CARE team is ready to help determine the best way to help. Here are some facts you should know:
Campus Assistance, Referral, and Evaluation (CARE) Teams of the Rockwall ISD are campus-based teams that serve as a multilevel system of support. Each team serves to support students experiencing difficulties and coordinate school intervention planning. CARE Teams work to solve problems and identify appropriate help for students.
CARE Teams meet the state and federal requirements as a pre-referral committee of students for possible special programs. Your child may need referral to a special program, but prior to referral, students experiencing difficulty in the general classroom should be considered for all support services available to all students, such as tutorial, remedial, compensatory, and other services.
Our Goal is to Help YOU:
-
Serve as a student support team to design interventions for students experiencing difficulties.
-
Perform activities such as reviewing and collecting student information, monitoring student progress, and referring students for special services if needed.
-
Develop and coordinate instructional and behavioral interventions for students.
