Elementary School Program
Language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education, health,
art, music, and computer literacy are the content offerings for grades
pre-Kindergarten through sixth. Instructional technology is designed to prepare
students for the challenges of a technological world. An integrated curriculum
approach incorporates technology as a natural part of the educational process.
Middle School Program

science, and social studies. Elective courses are offered in theatre, art,
choir, speech, technology, business, physical education, and foreign languages.
Students may earn high school credit by taking Algebra I and Spanish I in middle
school.
High School Program
Course offerings at the high school level include a wide range of options in
both the core content areas and the elective areas. An increased number of
Advanced Placement courses is offered in a variety of disciplines. Elective
areas include, but are not limited to, fine arts (band, art, theater), language
arts (journalism, speech), foreign languages, (French, Spanish, German, American
Sign Language), mathematics (calculus, computer mathematics), and social studies
(sociology, psychology).
Career and Technical Education
Courses are available to prepare high school students for employment. RISD
articulates with Eastfield and Collin County Community Colleges to provide
additional opportunities for tech prep programs. Students may choose among
agriculture, trade and industrial education, office education, drafting, family
and consumer science, and marketing education.
RISD offers an abundance of opportunities for students in grades 7-12 to
participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Many students take
advantage of the multiple opportunities afforded them. |
