Ready, Set, Cheer!!!!!! Grades 3-6
Want to vamp up your cheerleading skills and have a great time doing it? Come to our summer cheer clinic where former collegiate cheer coach Jamie Vestal and one of our very own Rockwall High School cheerleaders will help you improve your techniques. Students will learn cheers, jumps, and a dance routine, build pyramids, and tumble. Students will present a pep rally to their parents at the end of the session. Come on out and cheer!!! Camp Drama Grades 1-6
Students will enjoy cultivating their drama skills and preparing for a session end show. Sets will be designed as well as play performances. More details on the play to come soon keep checking online! Instructor: Phyllis Johnson
Guitar 101 – Grades 3-6
Learn to play the guitar! Whether you are rocking’ out or playing mild melodies, you can learn to play. Come learn the basic rudiments of guitar, electric or acoustic. Students will conclude by performing a mini concert. Instructor: Susan Wadley
Getting Ready for Kindergarten (Incoming Kindergarteners)
This is the perfect class for your incoming kindergartner! The class is designed to ease the transition from preschool to kindergarten. Focusing on phonemic awareness, phonics and fluency, this class is guaranteed to be filled to the brim with fun and learning. Give your child a head start for kindergarten – enroll for this class! Swim at the new Rockwall Aquatics Center
Your child will be coached by University of Texas Alum and All-American RHHS Head Swim coach Tommy Sacco, as well as University of Texas Alum and UT Letterman RHS Head Swim coach Paul Wallace. Students will not only learn to swim but also resistance training, pool safety, games, video sessions from Olympics and technique videos. Students should be able to swim one lap unassisted and furnish swimsuit and towel. Swim cap and goggles can be brought as well but aren’t required.

Exploration Courses- 1 Week Courses
Culinary Arts (Completed Grade 6 only)
Students will spend one week in the Culinary Arts Center at Rockwall High School and visiting various restaurants around town.
Sixth grade students will have the exciting opportunity to learn first- hand knowledge from professional chefs. Rockwall High School Culinary Arts Academy instructors and current students as well as local area professional chefs will assist and provide exposure to our future food designers. Crafty Kids for a Cause
If you enjoy crafting, creative thinking, and helping others, this is the class for you! You will design and create two stuffed Wacky Creatures ~ one to keep and one to donate to child a need. In addition to hand stitching and stuffing, you'll make, pin, and cut the pattern for your one-of-a-kind creatures. Come join us for LOTS of fun AND the chance to make a difference in someone's life. Calling all creative thinkers! In this class you will alter 3 items to create unique pieces of art. We will let our imaginations run wild and get our hands messy using scrapbook supplies such as decorative paper, ribbon, buttons, brads, stamps, stickers, special markers and anything else we can find. We will construct a journal, clipboard and small canvas memory board. At the end of the class you will have gained valuable creative thinking skills and will take home 3 one-of-a-kind art pieces! Tennis
Get ready for a fun and exciting week of tennis. This is for any level player who wants to learn the game of tennis. Instructional drills will be provided by Rockwall Heath High School Tennis Coach Kathy Boland as well as learning the ins and outs of tennis. A tournament will culminate the class for parents to come and watch! Please indicate your child’s skill level when registering. Class will meet at Rockwall High School Sports Complex June 14-17 only. Snap! Snap! (Digital Scrapbooking) Grades 2-6
Do you love the sound of a camera taking pictures? A week of Digital Scrapbooking is the perfect thing for you! You will explore new and exciting ways to capture your pictures by using computer programs. These programs will allow you to show your creativity as well. Rockin’ Robotics- Grades 3-6
Love Legos? Want to bring them to “life”? Join this beginning Lego robotics class where students will make Lego robots and learn the basics of programming to make their robot move, shake, zig zag, and more. Legos and computers are provided. Instructor: Melody Baker
Movie Time Fun! - Grades 1-3
Lights! Camera! Action……. It’s time to create movies. Have you ever wanted to star in your very own movie, be the producer, or just capture and edit video? Well join us for one week of movie making fun. You will learn how to capture video, edit and produce your very own film using our Flip Video cameras. Calling all creative, jewelry loving designers….. Would you like to see what you can do with creative flare? Do you love bling? Well this is class is just for you! Come join us for a fun filled week of working with beautiful gemstones and professional jewelry making tools. Learn how to create your very own beautiful jewelry. You will learn about gemstones, design, and techniques. Instructed by a professional jewelry designer that sells jewelry to stores and galleries in the Dallas area. Designed to Inspire: Today’s Students, Tomorrow’s Engineers! Grades 3-6
Unleash your ingenuity and challenge yourself to think like an engineer with real-world and hands-on projects. Inspired by the popular PBS show, “Design Squad”, participants will solve a wide array of imaginative engineering challenges using an assortment of materials commonly found in hardware and electronics stores. The materials and challenges engage and empower kids by having them use their ingenuity to solve problems and design and build interesting projects. Each activity is distinct, and offers kids variety, while letting them unleash their creativity. Instructors: Katy Hill and Kristie Fergeson
Rock, Roll, Shake and…. ERUPT! Grades 3-6
Students will combine great fun and excitement with science and social studies to: Design and construct your very own sale map of the United States. Make and consume a sandwich that shows the layers of the Earth. Build and erupt a volcano ~ then EAT it! Demonstrate an earthquake in your very own miniature city. Kamp Sew ‘N’ Sew- Grades 4-6
Ever wonder what it would be like to make your own pillowcase? Pajama pants? Well, now you can find out! Come learn basic sewing skills on a sewing machine, as well as, hand stitching/basting. Learn creative techniques to help complete projects in class and at home. *Bring 2-4 yards of your favorite cotton fabric. Instructor: Joyce Roberts
Paper Mache Sculpting (Art Exploration) Grades 2-6
Have fun creating a paper mache sculpture. Spend each day making a form, layering it with paper mache, painting it and adding fun embellishments. Instructor: Susan Guzman
Scratchboard Art Grades 2-6
Create a drawing then trace it onto a scratchboard and watch brilliant colors come though! Choose from multicolored, fluorescent, glitter or black/white to create more than one masterpiece. Instructor: Susan Guzman
Fun with Rubik’s Cube
Ever heard of the 80’s puzzle and one of humanity’s modern-day mysteries the Rubik's Cube? Did you think it was impossible to solve and just peeled off the stickers? The Rubik’s Cube is making a comeback, and in this course you can finally learn how to solve it. In addition to impressing all of your friends and family, you will be increasing creative problem solving skills, mental visualization, memorization techniques and hand-eye coordination. We will cover the standard 3x3, also the 2x2, 4x4 and the pyraminx. Students can bring their own Rubik’s cube or they can be bought at the class. Instructor: Louis Mandanici
Fashion Tie-Dyeing
Tie Dye is making a comeback in a fashion kinda way!!! Students will learn about tie dyeing and fashion in this fun and creative class. Students will do some sewing too while creating their very own colorful projects!!! Instructor: Dora Stiegelmar
Dancing with the Stars – TWO SESSIONS! Grades K-2 and 3-6
Love to dance? Want to learn to dance like the stars? This class is for you! Students will enjoy exploring routines in jazz, lyrical, and kick. During the week students will learn proper stretching and technique for kicks and splits, fun routines and games, poise, grace, and manners, and even steps to choreographing their own routine. Dress for movement and get ready to dance, dance, dance! Please bring a water bottle and a healthy snack. This Class will be offered two weeks: Week 1, completed grades K-2; and Week 2, completed grades 3-6. Instructor: Amberly Brown
